Your eyes deserve the same level of medical attention as the rest of your body. At Redmond Eye Clinic, our doctors diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of medical eye conditions right here in our office, from eye infections and injuries to chronic conditions that require ongoing monitoring. Whether you need same day care for a sudden concern or long-term management of an existing condition, we are your first stop for medical eye care.
What is Medical Eye Care?
Medical eye care encompasses everything from emergency red eyes to chronic eye disease such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. You may need to come in for a medical eye exam if you are having any problems not related to your glasses or contacts. At your comprehensive exam, your doctor may find signs of a medical condition which requires multiple medical visits to monitor it over time.
ERG Testing
Electroretinography (ERG) measures the electrical responses of the cells in your retina, giving our doctors an objective look at how well your retina is functioning. This advanced testing helps us detect and monitor retinal conditions earlier and with greater accuracy, and it is one more way we bring comprehensive medical eye care to our patients in Redmond.
Conditions We Diagnose & Treat
Whether you’re experiencing sudden symptoms or managing a long-term condition, our team is here to help. We see patients for a broad spectrum of medical eye concerns, including:
- Allergies and allergic reactions
- Blepharitis
- Blood vessel blockage
- Cataracts
- Cataract surgery co-management
- Conjunctival hemorrhage
- Conjunctivitis / Pink Eye
- Contact lens-related eye
- Corneal abrasions and ulcers
- Diabetes-related eye disease
- Dry Eye Disease
- Foreign body in the eye
- Glaucoma
- Hypertension-related eye disease
- Keratoconus
- LASIK / PRK surgery co-management
- Macular degeneration
- Retinal tears, detachments, or holes
- Scleritis
- Styes
- Uveitis
- Viral and bacterial infections
Some of these conditions have no obvious early symptoms, which is why regular monitoring matters. Certain conditions are also hereditary, if you have a family history of eye disease, let us know so we can check for it proactively.
Ongoing Monitoring for Your Health
Certain health conditions and medications can affect your eyes over time, which makes regular monitoring an important part of your overall care. Our doctors work alongside your physician to watch for changes and protect your vision. We provide dedicated monitoring for:
Diabetes. Diabetic eye exams allow us to detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy and other diabetes related eye changes before they threaten your vision.
Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine). Long term use of Plaquenil can, in rare cases, affect the retina. We provide the specialized retinal screening recommended for patients taking this medication.
Blenrep. Patients receiving Blenrep require routine eye exams to monitor for corneal changes associated with treatment. We coordinate with your oncology team to provide this required screening.
Our Technology
We invest in advanced diagnostic equipment so our doctors can detect problems earlier and monitor changes with precision. Our medical eye care tools include the Heidelberg Spectralis OCT, the Eidon Fundus Camera, the Oculus 5M Keratograph, and ERG testing, alongside proven treatments like LipiFlow and amniotic membrane therapy.
ERG Testing (Electroretinography)
For certain conditions affecting the retina’s function, we offer electroretinography (ERG) — a specialized test that measures the electrical activity of the retinal cells in response to light. ERG is an important diagnostic and monitoring tool for conditions such as:
- Retinal dystrophies (including retinitis pigmentosa)
- Medication toxicity monitoring (including Plaquenil and Blenrep)
- Unexplained vision loss
- Congenital or inherited retinal disorders
ERG allows us to assess how well your retina is functioning even when structural imaging looks normal, giving our doctors a more complete picture of your eye health.
